Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts recently announced that he’s releasing a new album featuring 41 songs, in celebration of 15 years since he appeared on the show. The opera singer was the very first person to win BGT back in 2007.

Paul Potts Releasing New 41-Song Album

Fans of Potts will have plenty to enjoy with this new release, as the album includes 41 songs that the singer performed during lockdown for the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. He shared a preview of some of the tracks on his YouTube channel.

“It is dedicated to all the hard working essential workers and all those that have been suffering during the outbreak, both as sufferers of the disease, but also as a byproduct of the effects of the disease,” Potts wrote in the caption. “It is also dedicated to those that have lost loved ones.”

This is Potts’ seventh album. It’s titled Musica non Proibita, which is a play on the Italian song title “Musica Proibita,” meaning “Forbidden Music” in English. The music on Potts’ album, it seems, is not forbidden.

Potts Won BGT in 2007

Potts auditioned for the first series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007, singing Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” and earning a standing ovation from the crowd. In the Semifinals, Potts performed “Time to Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli, and he sang “Nessun Dorma” again in the Finals.

Potts ended up winning the show, and he went on to release his debut album One Chance later the same year. He’s released several other albums since, including his most recent project Winter Dreams in 2018. In 2019, Potts competed on both AGT: The Champions and BGT: The Champions.

His new album Musica Non Proibita is scheduled to be released on September 30. Titles on the album include “Funiculi Funicula,” “Musica Proibita,” and “Bésame Mucho.”
