America’s Got Talent is officially back! Now that AGT is back for its 19th season on NBC, there’s been a huge twist to the show itself. Instead of 4 or 5 Golden Buzzers, this season will feature 9. Outstanding teen singer Reid Thomas is among the recipients of the season.
Who is Howie Mandel’s Golden Buzzer Reid Thomas?
Similar to many in the competition, Reid Thomas was a viral sensation ahead of his time on AGT. In late 2023, Reid went viral on TikTok singing “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin. The short video got so much traction that American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson invited Reid on to her show.
In November 2023, Reid took the stage with Hudson on her talk show, The Jennifer Hudson Show. Before singing, the talk show host asked the singer how long he’s been singing.
“I’ve been singing for, since I was really little, but when I was a little kid I had all the power that I have, except I didn’t have any control,” he said. “So you would just hear me running around the house screaming basically until recently I started getting the hang of it.”

Hudson then asked Reid where control came from. Reid responded explaining that his brother, The Voice season 24 standout Ryley Tate Wilson, has a vocal coach. Ryley apparently sent his vocal coach a video of Reid singing one time, Reid joined in on the lessons. In November 2023, Reid said that he began posting videos less than a year ago. Reid and Hudson performed “Ain’t No Way” by Aretha Franklin.
For those who may not know, Reid’s brother, Ryley was the youngest four-chair-turner on The Voice season 24. Ryley made it all the way to the semi-finals as part of Team Niall.
