Kanye West Apologizes to Drake for His Role in Pusha T Beef
“There should have been no songs with my involvement that had any negative energy towards you," West tweets.

Kanye West apologized to Drake in a series of nine tweets early Wednesday for falling out with him over the “Lift Yourself” beat — which the two were apparently going to record together —and accusations that West played a role in the lyrics of Pusha-T’s diss tracks toward Drake, “Infrared” and “The Story of Adidon.”
The public dispute between Drake and Pusha — in which Pusha announced the existence of Drake’s “secret” child in “The Story of Adidon,” and in which West played a complicated role as Pusha’s producer and as friend to both — reached a peak around Memorial Day before it was de-escalated. Why West decided to address it more than three months later is unclear but may be related to rumors that Drake had a fling in the past with West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, which she quashed in a tweet recently.

West began on Wednesday night by “Sending good energy and love to Drake and family and crew” over their current tour, which launched several weeks ago. “I understand where the confusion started.”

“Let me start by apologizing for stepping on your release date in the first place,” West said. “We were building a bond and working on music together including squashing the issues with [Kid] Cudi at our office. Because we spoke about doing ‘Lift Yourself’ together I should have given you the opportunity for us to do this together before I released it.” Apparently, Drake wanted the beat, but West mocked him by releasing it with now-infamous nonsensical lyrics, including “poopity-scoop,” which ended up as a punchline in a “Saturday Night Live” skit about West’s tweets starring Donald Glover.
He also apologized for “ghostwriter” references in Pusha T’s song “Infrared,” which West produced, and which began the dispute. “Since we were building as friends and brothers I should have spoken to Pusha about the Quentin Miller bar,” West tweeted. “There should have been no songs with my involvement that had any negative energy towards you.”
He then apologized for any perception that he was the one who told Pusha T about Drake’s “secret” child, apparently a little-known fact that the MC announced to the world via the Drake diss track “Story of Adidon.”
“I never listened to either diss track that followed but I did hear quotes from both songs after they were released,” West said. “I did not have any conversations about your child with Pusha. I don’t play with the idea of people’s children after I spoke to Wiz [Khalifa] a few years earlier,” West tweeted, a reference to a dispute with Khalifa in 2016.
“I understand Pusha’s issues as a man if someone mentions your fiancé men go mask off. I’ve done the same myself at times. I love you and I love Pusha and we all have an admiration for each other’s craft.”
While West distanced himself from the Drake-Pusha T beef at its height on June 2 and seemed to play a role in de-escalating it — “I’ve never been about beef … lines were crossed and it’s not good for anyone. This is dead now” — he apparently felt the need to elaborate publicly, more than three months later.
“I will be coming to your show within the next seven days to give love and be inspired by the art you have created,” he wrote Wednesday.
